August 2019

August 6, 2019

Since mid-July, the officers and I have been immersed in preparation for the upcoming constituency session on September 22.

We have been writing reports to be uploaded on our session website to be available to all the delegates and church members before the session so they can read them and become well informed. And, to be more efficient reporting on the session day, we are adding a new feature: a video showing each executive officer and superintendent of education briefly reporting what God has done in the Southern California Conference.

Elder John Cress, our executive secretary, and Lauren Lacson, our communication director, along with their office team, have been working tirelessly to have everything ready for this important event in our conference.

Also, during this time the nominating committee has done its work, and their report was recently given to our conference executive secretary. This report will be released to the delegates tomorrow and immediately uploaded to our session website. This report informs regarding the individuals who have been nominated for the executive officers and superintendent of education positions as well as the list of members of the executive and bylaws committees. Please visit www.2019sccsession.org/nominating-committee after tomorrow for this info.

In the midst of this nonstop work toward the constituency session, our beloved conference vice president, Elder James Lee, has been conducting a Revelation seminar for five weeks at the 54th Street church. This coming Sabbath will be the first baptismal ceremony for those who have made the decision to follow Jesus. Let’s pray for the Holy Spirit to work in the lives of these new members.

Last Sabbath evening, I participated at the opening ceremony of "Victory in Jesus," an evangelistic revival at the Smyrna church, which will continue the whole month of August, led by their pastor-evangelist Elder Trevor Stewart. After more than 25 years, evangelistic meetings are held once again in a tent here in Los Angeles. Please pray for Elder Stewart and his committed church members.

IMPORTANT DATES:

• Nominating Committee: On September 8, from 3-8 p.m., this committee will be available at the conference office to receive from DELEGATES any input, comment or concern regarding the nominating committee report. Please ask your pastor for guidance on this matter.

• 65th SCC Constituency Session: This important meeting will be held on Sunday, September 22, 2019, at the White Memorial SDA Church from 7:55 a.m. to 1 p.m.
