This is a challenging time for our communities here in Southern California. First, a mass shooting; then, a raging wildfire. The Woolsey fire affecting Ventura and Los Angeles counties has grown quickly and has already destroyed hundreds of structures. We are praying for the dear ones who have been affected in any way by the recent fires and those who have lost their homes but escaped with their lives.
Many have asked for ways to help. If you want to contribute to disaster relief to help those affected by the Woolsey fire, you may do so in a variety of ways, listed below. Please keep in mind that firefighters and other personnel are working tirelessly to contain this fire and protect the community. While these efforts are underway, we urge you to avoid the fire area until it has been confirmed by authorities that it is safe to return.
We solicit your prayers for the Lord’s peace and comfort to be granted to those who have been touched by these recent tragedies and for the first responders who are working around the clock for the safety of these communities.
Sincerely,
Velino A. Salazar, SCC President
